Description: EF Johnson Viking Ranger , #27 SN: 63284 Rebuild in process For Auction: Johnson Viking Ranger I, SN: 63284 * Overhaul/rebuild started* Photos posted as rebuild progresses* This unit includes cabinet, photo of cabinet not yet posted. * Disassembly in progress. * Note lower left corner of bottom of chassis: Smoke event. * As soon as cleaning has been accomplished, we start the mechanical work * Chassis and wiring cleaned, scrubbed, water washed, air dried* VFO Module overhauled, tested for linearity and output on our test fixture. * Rear panel mechanical work mostly complete. * Installed IEC male panel connector, installed two-pin female Jones socket Note: Jones socket installation required a two-piece flush patch as a previous modification had introduced a very large hole in the chassis at the location of the OEM relay socket. * Begin installing tube sockets and terminal strips * Terminal strips and tube sockets installed* Re-wiring underway* Photos show rebuild progress * Chassis re-wiring approximately 85% complete* Microphone amplifier circuit re-wiring complete* New meter switch ( mil grade ceramic) installed and wired* AC Line Fuse holder installed, AC input circuit complete* AC Primary circuit tested * Loading capacitor installed * Working our way towards the Mode Switch of Death re-wire. * VFO/Xtal switch re-wire/re-configure process started * Under-chassis re-wiring 90% complete* Mode Switch of Death re-wire complete* Keyer/Bias sub chassis installed* Bias circuit tested * PA RF output components installed* Coarse Loading switch and components installed. * PTT module ( Solid state relay driver) installed, tested. * Keyer/Bias sub chassis interface wiring completed. * Under-chassis re-wiring 97% complete. ( Needs LV & HV buss testing).* VFO module (with shroud) installed, not yet tested in this chassis ( we do separate testing in our shop VFO Test/Linearity fixture). * VFO Module ball drive overhauled, ball drive snubber assembly fabrication complete. * VFO module installed & tested* Temp panel meter installed* Metering except for IP and MOD, tested* Buffer circuit tested* IG metering tested* PTT circuit tested from rear microphone connector & PTT Module test switch * +300V solid state regulator circuit tested* Solid state Drive module and circuit tested * HV Components installed: Filter capacitor/bleeder assembly Kiss Electronics
