Description: Updike, John - Rabbit, Run - Alfred A Knopf: New York, 1960 - First Edition / First Printing / First State Dust Jacket - “First Edition” stated on the copyright page as required in order to denote the first printing of the first edition. First state dust jacket with the unattributed 16 line blurb on the front flap. “I once did something right. I played first-rate basketball. I really did. And after you're first-rate at something, no matter what, it kind of takes the kick out of being second-rate.” The book has some light soiling, edge wear, a some scattered stains, and four stamps internally from a prior book sale. The boards otherwise remain clean, the binding is square and firm, and internally there are no markings or writing in the text block save for the aforementioned issue. The dust jacket has heavy large chips, soiling, edge wear and seperation beginning at the flaps. This was the very first installment in Updike’s beloved series centered around Harry “Rabbit” Angstrom. It is with no hesitation that one can say that this character, and series of titles, were the high point in Updike’s vast body of work. Basis for the 1970 film adaptation of the same title which starred a young James Caan as Rabbit. All books are offered with a full 30 day postage paid return policy. All books which are in dust jackets will be mailed with a clear archival dust jacket protector fitted. Shipping costs can be combined if multiple purchases are made. Items will be packaged and shipped within one business day unless otherwise noted. Please always feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
