Description: * * * * A RARE SOUTHERN CUP BY JOHN & PETER MOOD * * * * For sale is a rare Southern antique solid coin silver handled cup made by brothers John and Peter Mood in Charleston, South Carolina circa 1840. The cup measures 3 3/4" tall by 4 1/2" across by 3" in diameter; weighs a hefty 203 grams. The Mood brothers were partners starting in late 1834 and ended some- time in 1841. The cup is marked J & P MOOD on the bottom as shown in the photos. This relic of the past is in excellent used condition. The outside surface of the cup is clean and the handle is tight and original. There are some tiny dings on the bottom as expected. There is no monogram and it does not appear there ever was one.
