Description: I have for sale a John Charles Fremont 1856 Presidential campaign medal. The medal looks to be gilded metal; it is 1 1/8 inch in diameter and in uncirculated condition but has many tiny spots on the obverse. John Fremont was an American explorer, military officer and a politician. At one time he was a senator from California and the republican nominee for president in 1856, but he lost that election to James Buchanan. The medal obverse shows the bust of FREMONT in the center and at the rim it reads COL. JOHN C. FREMONT - JESSIE'S CHOICE.
