He began his studies at the Escola Pia de Sarrià and also studied in Zurich and Paris. In 1946 he was part of the so-called “Group of Eight”; formed by poets, writers and musicians. Joan Comellas became known in various editions of the Salón de Mayo in Barcelona, and made his solo debut in 1958 at the El Jardín galleries in the same city.
