Description: This is a rare June 24th, 1940 playbill from the Original Broadway production of the JAMES McHUGH and AL DUBIN musical comedy "KEEP OFF THE GRASS" at the Broadhurst Theatre in New York City. (The production opened May 23rd, 1940 and closed after only 44 performances.) ..... The musical starred JIMMY DURANTE, RAY BOLGER, JANE FROMAN and ILKA CHASE (all shown in the cover photo) and featured JACKIE "Jack" GLEASON (making his Broadway debut), BETTY BRUCE, NAN RAE, MAUDE DAVIS, LARRY ADLER, VIRGINIA O'BRIEN, JOHN McCAULEY, SUNNIE O'DEA, THE DeTUSCANS, JOSE LIMON, DAPHNE VANE, ROBERT SHACKLETON, SID WALKER, PEANUTS BOHN, HAL NEIMAN, EMMET KELLY, MARGERY MOORE and DODSON'S MONKEYS.
