Description: This is a Tzedakah cannister for a Jewish organization with a phone number but no name on the canister. I believe this was used by various Jewish upon filling this container donate its content to a worthy cause.. My grandfather had a hardware store in NYC and had 3 or 4 different cannisters or boxes next to the register. The top has a wide slot to accommodate bills. This cannister could not be opened. It had to be broken to get the money out. The side of the panels depict Mitzvot appropriate for a Jewish life and I believe this Cannister dates back to the 1950s but that is only my guess. .
