Description: This auction is for 25 Jerusalem sage seeds. This is for Phlomis fruticosa seeds which has grey/silver foliage. The seeds of Jerusalem sage can be sown outdoors (lightly covered) in the spring. Or you can sow inside in pots if any time of year. The plants are tolerant of sunny and partially shaded areas. Ideally the soil that Jerusalem Sage grows in should be sandy, light and infertile. If starting off Jerusalem sage indoors then do so about two months in advance. The Jerusalem Sage seeds take from two to seven weeks to germinate. Once the plants are about 5 cm high, transplant into the garden about 60 cm apart. Caring for Phlomis It is easy to look after Phlomis plants such as Jerusalem Sage; they require to be watered during prolonged dry periods; and the flowering stems should be pruned lightly in the winter. The Phlomis plant should be divided every three years or so in the autumn to maintain vigour and to propagate further plants; alternatively take cuttings in the spring. They produce copious amounts of nectar in their flowers which in the USA attracts hummingbirds and the flowers can be sucked on like honeysuckle to give a sweet taste like nothing else. You have the option of sending via regular air mail or expedited shipping. If you need a tracking number, please choose the expedited shipping option even though it is more expensive, because if you opt for regular mail, I cannot provide tracking. If your address is in South America, Arabian Peninsula or Africa you MUST choose expedited shipping. Normal mail often does not seem to get to these destinations from New Zealand. Expedited shipping takes less than 1 week worldwide. Regular mail to the rest of the world (apart from the above geographical regions) often takes 4-6 weeks. Please do not complain if you haven't received your seeds after 2 weeks. If you live in Greece, or neighbouring countries please be aware that it is not unusual for regular mail from New Zealand to take 8 weeks to reach you.
