The artist has rendered an abstract portrait of a woman seated behind a low table on which is placed a bowl and glassware. The artwork is signed "J. Seagle 60” at the lower right corner. The painting appears to be mixed media with a combination of watercolor and guache or acrylic paints. The surface is paper and bears the embossed stamp "VERITABLE PAPIER D'ARCHES" at the upper right corner.The framer's label on the reverse indicates that the artwork was framed in 1984 for Martha Blair. There is a slight buckle to the paper and the glass shows some cloudiness on the inside.The gray metal frame measures 22 1/8" in width and 30 1/8" in height. The image measures 21 1/2" in width and 29 1/2" in height.The abstract portraiture painting by Jerry Seagle is presented in very good vintage condition. Jerry V. SeagleJerry V. Seagle, born on July 31, 1941 in Corpus Christi, TX, was a contemporary artist and graduated with honors and a BFA from the University of Texas.He received a graduate fellowship to further his studies at the University of the Americas in Mexico City. He had extensive teaching experiences with workshops in Texas and New Mexico and received more than 250 awards in national and regional exhibitions. Sarah "Bessie", also raised in Lake Forest, was a grandchild of the Kellogg family and may be the subject of the painting.
