Most notably, the DC air pump is powered by an internal rechargeable battery that can last much longer than the bait bucket air pumps we used to use in emergencies. The JBJ Maxum uses 10 watts to deliver up to 40 gallons per hour of air every hour and it can automatically switch to its internal backup battery in the event of a power failure. At full power the JBJ Maxum can easily last 24 hours but can be switched to a special interval mode that runs 15 seconds on, 15 seconds off, to stretch the overall aeration time to 48 hours on battery alone.
