Description: An antique Japanese boxwood carved container. We believe it was made to hold medicine. It has two places where straps could be tied to attach it to an obi belt. Between its feet or through it's tail. We have one other similar in style okimono with attached straps. This style was from when most Japanese wore kimono's everyday. (Up to the early 1900's) The carving is very well done.It features a monkey holding his penis.Look closely and you can see the nails in his feet and hands. Tinniest details are there. His cap comes off and the hole goes down 2 3/8 inches (6 cm)With his cap he's 4 3/8 inches tall. Cap off he's 3 inches tallThis should be considered a work of art.
