Description: Ten (10) scarce early vintage copy photographs from the original negatives shows a number of Japanese troops and light tanks moving toward Shanghai, Hunan Province, China. A few photos have “SHANGHAI” printed on back. The Japanese invasion of Manchuria began on 19 September 1931, when the Kwantung Army of the Empire of Japan invaded Manchuria immediately following the Mukden Incident. After the war, the Japanese established the puppet state of Manchukuo. Their occupation lasted until the Soviet Union and Mongolia launched the Manchurian Strategic Offensive Operation in 1945. Photographs measure 3 1/2 x 5 inches and are in very good condition with some light residue on backs from being in an album. The dark lines are probably from the camera pressure plate against the original film. There are no bends, tears or creases and the images are very sharp and have strong tones with good contrast and clarity. Please email with any questions and please "VIEW SELLERS OTHER ITEMS". Thanks.
