Description: Japanese Tanto Short Real Sword Shirasaya 一貫斎繁寿 7.99 inch Antique 1902 NBTHKDescriptionProduct name: Tanto 　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　Inscription: 一貫斎繁寿　明治三十五年八月日　六十五翁作 / 1902 一貫斎繁寿（Ikkan-sai Shigejū）1838–1906, a swordsmith from the late Edo to Meiji period.Born in the 9th year of Tenpō in Suruga Fuchū.Trained in the Kiyomizu area of Kyoto and worked in Tokyo and Odawara, later returning to Shizuoka in his later years.His work exhibited at the National Industrial Exhibition in 1903 was purchased by the government.He passed away in 1906 at the age of 69. He is known as the uncle and mentor of the renowned "Ikkan-sai Shigemasa," a non-examined swordsmith, and "Miyairi Shōhei," a Living National Treasure, as well as being the uncle of "Ikkan-sai Shigetugu." This blade features a beautifully crafted tip with a stunning carving of Fudō Myōō. The condition of the blade is generally good, with some minor scratches towards the tip of the tsuka (handle).As it is an antique, some signs of age should be understood.For more details, please refer to the images.
