Description: Up for auction is this small Japanese dish or salt cellar with the coat-of-arms of the Tokugawa family. It is marked sterling on the underside. On the wide sides are applied coat-of arms and applied character marks meaning luck and long life, punched decor on body. I purchased this at a sale a few months back. I do not know its age. It appears to have been polished recently by the owner. The sale had many Japanese items. This little piece is finely made. The inside depth is approximately 1/2". When researching, I found one that looks like this one that sold at a Palais Dorotheum Auction in 2019 and was described as Meiji Period. I have no expertise in this area so I cannot say that. If you have any questions, please ask...thanks for looking.
