Description: This is a very nice Japanese Ginbari cloisonne vase also known as “Pigeon Blood”. Blood red enamel over hand embossed brass plate with additional cloisonné flower blossom decoration, measuring 6 1/4″ high by 3″ wide and in great condition, no chips, cracks for fading. This vase is a perfect example with a sharp enameling, and crisp, clear colors throughout. From the 1950's. Ginbari is a unique Japanese cloisonné where textured silver foil is wrapped around the metal body (normally brass) and wire silver closons before the transparent enamel is applied. The term ‘Akasuke’ refers to a special “pigeon blood” colored red. The design on this fine Akasuke Ginbari Vase is of delicate flowers set against a wonderfully stippled and textured pigeon blood background.
