Every show has been listened to for this purpose. In many cases I will tweak the audio if I can, or edit together the best quality parts of multiple copies of the same show. I do eliminate shows in which I feel the sound is too poor to be enjoyable for listening. Only in very rare circumstances, when the show is extremely hard to find will I include shows with poor sound. Of course, these are vintage shows, so some imperfections should be expected. *I try wherever possible to find the most unusual and hardest to find shows for each star and I update my sets regularly. *In the case of stars who appeared in a high volume of shows, I will offer multiple sets to keep costs low, but variety of shows high. James stars opposite Penelope Ward in this drama of a mentally disturbed man who returns to his family after his wife has divorced him without his knowledge. This was announced as Mason’s first American radio appearance. The film of the same name had starred John Barrymore and Katharine Hepburn. 1 hour. CD #2 Screen Director’s Playhouse “Wuthering Heights” (1951 – drama) – Rare and hard to find! James stars opposite Dorothy McGuire and his real-life wife, Pamela Kellino in this classic story of orphan Heathcliff and his passionate and timeless love for the fiery Cathy. Mason makes a wonderful Heathcliff! 1 hour. CD #3 General Electric Theater “Cyrano De Bergerac” (1953 – drama) – Rare and hard to find! James stars opposite his real-life wife, Pamela Kellino, in this classic story of a unattractive man with a gift for prose who lends his words to a handsome but vapid young man. A wonderful show! 30 minutes. CD #4 Studio One “Painted Veils” (1947 – drama) – James stars opposite Mercedes McCambridge in this story of a music critic and his love for a vain and ambitious opera singer. A few glitches, but still listenable. 1 hour. CD #5 The Fred Allen Show “Psychopathic Speculator” (1948 – comedy) – Hard to find! James makes a guest appearance with Fred Allen and they do a very funny murder skit! 30 minutes. “Husband and Wife Radio Show” (1948 – comedy) – Hard to find! James and wife Pamela make a guest appearance with Fred Allen and do their version of a husband and wife radio program which is absolutely hilarious!! A real gem! 30 minutes.
