Description: James II, Crown, 1687. Tertio Edge. S3407. An excellently struck coin for type with crisp detail that can be found on the reverse in the crowned cruciform shields, the detail in the harp and the lion being particularly impressive. Great detail to the bust on the obverse, the curls in the hair being nicely visible. Adjustment lines from filing in the mint are apparent on the obverse and reverse, particularly to the '16' in the date on the reverse, which is now not visible. The coin is struck off centre which is also an interesting trait of the coin from the mint. The adjustment lines are reflected in the price, but they are a character of the coin that has been present since minting.
