Description: This book is in good shape for being 128 years old. The green cloth binding is obviously old and the corners have signs of wear, but the gold gilt lettering is bright and shiny. The bottom of the spine has an illustration of a book with the initials of the publishing company on the front and the words 'Alpine Edition' on the illustration's spine, all this in the same gilt gold, the picture over a golden bough of leaves. This copy of Ivanhoe lacks a publishing date, but it does have a penciled dedication on the inside front cover: "Thad J VanWye Dec 25 96 From his mother". The inscription is darker than it looks in the photo. The pages are yellowed and the print is somewhat faded, though quite readable. The binding seems solid and there are no loose pages. The tops of the pages are also gold edged but they are in need of dusting. There are several small dark spots on the page edges, and a few light scratches (last picture).
