Description: This is a one of kind piece inspired by the award winning Ironrite chair design. This desk comes with the matching chair fully described below. The desk itself is made from up to 7 thin veneers of plywood that are glued together and placed into a custom made 2 piece mold and left to dry under extreme clamping pressure. There are only one of these desks in the world. The steel legs were fabricated by hand and finished with a durable powder coating. The writing surface is extremely smooth, finished to a very high standard. Table is sturdy and has little movement due to the shape and thickness of the steel. Brand new, never used mint condition. Desk and chair will be shipped partially disassembled unless local pick-up or delivery is arranged. (table is only 4 bolts, chair 6). A very striking, sleek and modern piece. The chair was designed by Herman A. Sperlich for Ironrite in the late 1930's, yet still retains its fresh, timeless look almost 80 years later. Since becoming part of MOMA's permanent collection, these chairs have been introduced to collectors around the world. This chair has been fully restored to a pristine condition down to the custom reproduced "Ironrite Health Chair" golden water transfer on the back rest. All the steel has been sandblasted and powder coated, The plywood chair parts finished in an automotive grade paint. All the original hardware was either re-chromed, re-zinc plated and where applicable replaced with stainless steel fasteners. The bottoms of each leg are protected by natural cork to prevent marring. No time or expense was sparred in bringing this chair back to it's glory. Dimensions given for desk are approx. as it's being stored in my shop 40 mins. away as I write this. Will correct soon.
