Description: BUST OF IRA ALDRIDGE AS OTHELLO BY MINNESOTA MINNING MFG. Please see pictures for condition. Item has normal wear from age and being displayed. There is some minor cracking on the underside of the hand. Bust will typically come with a wood base, this one is missing that base. Bust stands roughly 19" tall, 12" wide and about 14" deep. This was made by the Minnesota Minning Mfg Co.(3m) and depicts Ian Alrdidge as the Shakespeare character Othello. The original bust this is based on was created by Pietro Calvi and this is a 20th Century version of that. The piece is signed on the back (pictured) and is made out of a plaster/chalkware material. It is very heavy and will be expensive to ship, so please bear that in mind. I obtained this piece at the home of a retired pastor who was moving and could not take it with him. He received it on a pastor appreciation Sunday. I am assuming that someone thought the piece was Jesus or close enough but painted the face and hand white. You can see some of the original black under the white paint. I am leaving it up to the buyer to repaint.
