Description: Something of a rare bird, the Ion FMT tuner was highly regarded in its day. I think it had a dollop of quite famous design input from some legendary tuner designer, but perhaps the old memory is playing tricks. I'm sure a little Googling will bring the story to light, if you're curious. This example is in very good shape and I'm only selling as I've bought yet another vintage radio box whilst there's still time to enjoy such things. The Ion FMT shown here is pulling in a strong signal with just a short cable and a coat hanger (!) but obviously deserves better. It does occasionally drop a channel though I'm unsure whether this is a fault or whether it's rejecting a weak signal. When this happens I simply switch it off and on again and stereo is restored. I've been using the tuner again recently and I'm reasonably sure that the FM aerial and the integrity of its connection to the tuner is the culprit here. This tuner was, according to the labels, completed in October 1990 so I would recommend a service. The display is nice and bright and everything appears to work properly.
