This is an original copy of the patent issued to Sidney B Winn of Lapeer Michigan. Biography: Sidney Winn established the Lapeer Tractor- Truck Company in 1917. He opened a small factory in Lapeer and began producing a 5-ton vehicle ?powered by a 4-cylinder Wisconsin engined coupled to a heavy-duty threespeed transmission equipped with a Torbenson internal gear drive.? In 1920 Winn's outfit was reorganized as the Lapeer Trailer Company. He was now building trailers that featured the unique coupling system he had designed and patented, and built into his truck tractors.
