There are various other components that fail if capacitors have shorted, or a surge occurred. Note, these capacitor replacements should be performed by someone with soldering experience. A 60w or higher soldering iron with temperature control should be used. These devices are no longer available, and have become hard to find and expensive used. Our capacitor brands vary. Rubycon, Nichicon, Wurth, IC, and Kemet are our brands stocked. All capacitors are rated for 105c (220f) degrees with 5000-12000 hour life ratings at these temperatures. Hour ratings are based on capacitors running at their peak temperature. In these applications, these capacitors will far surpass their rated lifespan, as Insteon devices and capacitors do not operate at these high temperatures. Our capacitor choices are low ESR/low noise. We source our components direct from manufacturer, or from an authorized reseller to avoid knock-off products. Note, increasing rated capacitor voltage on communications circuits can increase ESR/noise. Many kits and repair companies will opt to use low quality capacitors with increased voltage ratings in attempt to further longevity or provide false piece of mind. This can result in decreased performance and radio reception. We have electronically tested, and stress tested our chosen components.
