ITEM DESCRIPTION: Normal 0 false false false EN-US ZH-CN X-NONE We are happy to present the following great antique pocket watch for sale: Illinois Watch Co. 16-Size Bunn Special 23j Grade Bunn Special Model 11 Railroad Pocket Watch with Open Face Gold Filled Case and Highly Ornate Montgomery Dial (inner 13-24 hour markings). The Illinois Watch Co. Bunn Special Pocket Watch has been a legend in American Railroad Timekeeping and Horology. When the Bunn Special model was made with 23 Jewels, Motor Barrel, and comes with a highly fancy Montgomery dial it’s always a very special collectible. The Illinois Bunn Special watches are renowned for their precision and also has other top grade features such as Motor Barrel, Fully Jeweled at 23j, and Solid Gold Wheel Train and Jewel Settings. This particular specimen also comes with an engraving of train engine running on railroad track on its caseback. Condition-wise the watch is running well and strong that appears to have been serviced some time ago and kept in a great operating state. However, we do not make any guarantee on timekeeping or function as we don’t know its service history. We strongly recommend to have antique pocket watches fully serviced before putting it to regular use and this will help extend the life of the timepiece as well. The decision and responsibility to service the watch is made solely by the end-user. Cosmetically the enamel dial has some serious defects near the setting lever at 1 o’clock position with chips and repair to the outer edge. There are also very faint hairlines at the 7 min and 58 min positions. When the front bezel is fastened on the watch most of these dial issues are not readily seen so it really doesn’t distract from how beautiful the watch looks. The gold-filled case has worn down and there are some areas of wear-through on the coin-edging areas of the caseback. The train engine engraving is also shallow and not so detailed anymore. There is also gold-fill wear through on the bow. Overall it is still in good shape for its age and certainly will be a great addition to any great collection or serve as a heirloom. Diameter is 51mm.
