These gloves were found in a box around the house and then left in a dead pile (i.e. an eBay listing that took ages to complete) and whilst it was in an open box, some dust and debris fell on it; which was a bit of task to wipe off; but it is for all intents and purposes clean enough for this listing... although an additional cleaning might (and will) do them some justice. Anyways, I really have no idea how old these gloves are, but if I had to venture a guess, I'd have to say that they were probably from the eighties, or probably earlier... perhaps the seventies or sixties for all I know. It's just pretty unusual to come across an item that appears to have been originally made in the United States these days, you know. Anyways, there's really not much I can say about them except for the fact that they have straps on the back just above the wrist area and their size is oddly marked as a size 4. I really don't know how that translates to a scale of small, medium, large, x-large, etc. but my best guess is that they're in between small and medium. Their inner linings each bear the same exact tag that read Glove Shells, Cattlehide DSA100-77-C-0662 B415-00-269-5701 Illinois Glove Company. And then on the side the aforementioned Size 4 is written. Across from that is a faded white stamp on the inside of the glove which I thought was a Roman numeral at first, until I realized that I was looking at it upside down and it seems to read the number 17 inside a box. I'm not really sure what this could possibly mean since the size of these gloves is clearly labeled as size 4 on the tags stitched onto the inside and whatnot, so your guess is as good as mine here folks. The outside of the gloves also exhibit some signs of wear on it from previous use/general age/storage/etc. These signs of wear are mostly patches of leather that have a sort of rash to them; as if they were dragged across the pavement or something. There are also a few instances where you can see a bit of excess threads or loose stitching sticking out on the sides of the gloves and whatnot. But these are only minor signs of wear and not indicative of something like total breakage or anything like that. I'd say these gloves still have plenty of mileage left in them. Furthermore, I don't think that these gloves were intended to be used solely for the purpose of being winter gloves because they're obviously made of leather, so I figure they must have some other kind of outdoor activity usage related to them; such as farming or maybe even motorcycling. I really can't say for sure what their original intended use is since I wasn't the original owner of these gloves.
