Description Boat part number 1114127 is a new set of (8) end-grain rigid perforated grooved balsa wood sheets from I-Core Composites, part number GRPG 1-1/2 . Commonly used on Tiara Yachts, part number 2102680 , but may be used on other boats.This is core material produced from certified kiln-dried balsa wood in the 'end-grain' configuration. The properties of balsa make it ideal as a core for sandwich construction. It has extremely high strength and stiffness-to-weight ratios, and achieves an excellent bond with all types of resins and adhesives. It is compatible with a variety of manufacturing processes and is resistant to temperature changes, or exposure to fire, or chemicals such as styrene.Sandwiching balsa in between fiberglass laminations creates an extremely stiff, high strength composite with low additional weight. Balsa is the strongest of the lightweight core materials used in marine construction. It is typically used in hulls, decks bulkheads, interiors and superstructures.These sheets of balsa measures approximately 48" L x 24" W x 1 1/2" H overall. Features perforation holes and grooves.
