Description: HYGIEIA HEAD ON MARBLE BASE Hygieia was the goddess of health, healing and wellbeing. She was a daughter and attendant of the medicine-god Asklepios (Asclepius), and a companion of the goddess Aphrodite. Her sisters included Panakeia (Panacea) (Cure-All) and Iaso(Remedy). Hygieia's name gives us our word "hygiene". The original marble head, currently in the National Museum in Athens, was found in the Temple of Apollo at Tegea and is probably the work of the 4th century sculptor Skopas. Please be aware that, due to the fact that our products are either individually cast, carved, hand painted and hand finished, there will inevitably be minor variations in size, colour and texture.(B223)Details:Condition: New, Handmade in GreeceMaterial: Casting stoneHeight: 13 cm(5.1 inches)Width: 8 cm(3.1 inches)Weight: 580 g
