However, throughout the 1920s Hungary repeatedly secretly violated these prohibitions, and from the late 1920s and early 1930s, in fact, openly ceased to comply with them. From 1934-1936, Hungary began an open mass rearmament of troops with Italian-made armored vehicles, in parallel, both attempting to develop armored vehicles on its own and looking for alternative suppliers. Since repeated attempts to create a tank on its own were unsuccessful, Hungary produced modified versions of light and medium tanks of Swedish and Czechoslovak development, which, despite their obsolescence, formed the basis of the Hungarian armored forces. In addition, Hungary during the Second World War mass-produced self-propelled guns based on these tanks, as well as armored vehicles of its own design. In total, from 1939 to 1944, before the occupation by Germany, Hungary produced about 650 tanks, 200 self-propelled guns and 135 armored vehicles. In addition, during the war years, Hungary received, primarily through purchases in Germany, about 400 tanks and self-propelled guns, mainly of German and Czechoslovak production. Under the terms of the Trianon Treaty, concluded in 1920, severe restrictions were imposed on the army of Hungary, which had lost the First World War: among other things, it was forbidden to have armored vehicles . In 1922, however, Hungary was allowed to create one company of 12 armored vehicles for the needs of the police, in case of possible disturbances . By that time, the country had only two vehicles left over from the Austro-Hungarian army, but later the company received 12 Raba V.P. armored vehicles manufactured in Hungary in 1925. In addition, almost from the very conclusion of the treaty, Hungary made attempts to circumvent it. Already in the spring of 1920, a German-designed LK II light tank was purchased, and soon another 13 vehicles of this type. Although the Entente Control Commission became aware of this, it was not possible to find them, since all the tanks were hidden and, with the exception of two vehicles, dismantled into parts . Wedge C.V. 3/35 In the late 1920s and early 1930s, Hungary began a more open rearmament of the army with armored vehicles. At the same time, Great Britain, trying to oppose Hungary to the countries of the "Little Entente", at that time preferred to ignore violations of the treaty. In 1928, two British Carden-Loyd Mk.IV tankettes were purchased, and in 1931 - five Italian Fiat 3000 light tanks. In 1932, another sample of the tankette was purchased in Great Britain, this time the Cardin-Loyd Mk.VI. A more massive purchase of armored vehicles began in the mid-1930s, again in Italy. The first batch of 25 C.V.3 / 33 tankettes, which received the designation 35.M in the Hungarian army, was purchased, according to various sources, in 1934 [5] or in August 1935; according to other sources, the party consisted of 30 cars. In 1936, a batch of, according to various sources, 121 or 125 tankettes of the improved C.V.3 / 35 model, designated 37.M, was purchased. All Italian tankettes were rearmed with Hungarian machine guns, command vehicles also received square-shaped commander's turrets. More intensive arming of the army with armored vehicles began after the adoption in 1937 of a comprehensive program of reorganization of the army "Huba I" (Hungarian Huba I). Throughout the 1930s, Hungary repeatedly attempted in various ways to obtain more advanced combat vehicles than Italian tankettes. The first attempt to develop a tank on its own ended in failure. The V-4 light amphibious wheeled-tracked tank, created by the Weiss Manfred plant under the leadership of designer N. Straussler, was built by 1940 and passed tests, but due to its unsuccessful and outdated design by that time, it was decided to abandon further work in this direction in favor of using foreign developments . In 1937, samples of two light tanks were purchased: the German Pz.KpfW.I and the Swedish L-60, and after tests, in which, according to some reports, the already manufactured V-4 prototype also took part, in 1938 Hungary acquired a license for production of L-60 at the firm "Landsverk" .ayment Policy We accept only PayPal Shipping Policy We ship WORLDWIDE.We will ship your purchase to your eBay address using AIRMAIL with TRACKING NUMBER.
