Description: These extra-large Afghan hoops were handmade during the late 1900's for the Hazara tribe along the old Silk Road trade route of Central Asia. They are vintage tribal-jewelry, not new reproductions. More measurements are listed at the end of this description. Please note that the large reddish beads are indeed more red than I was able to obtain in the images (I tried!). They may look magenta, but they are more red. These are classic Afghan-Hazara hoops with distinctive domed-accents and colorful beads, including floral designs on each end. The12 gauge earwires are much thicker than standard-sized earwires, and will not fit through regular small earlobe piercings. Earrings like these were seldom worn through the earlobe, but rather attached to other headdresses, veils, or directly to locks of hair (as in manikin image). These are among the nicest earrings of the style that I've come across. They are perfect for belly dance, theater costuming, Silk Road stage productions, and making dramatic statements. MEASUREMENTS (1 inch = 2.54 cm): Size = 3 inch diameter Gauge = 12 gauge (thickness of wire that passes through earlobe piercing) Weight = 1.5 oz per pair Shipping Weight = 7 oz TM Image Library 9-15-2024
