Description: Up for sale is what I believe to be a Rare Antique Numdha Rug from Kasmir India. It was hanging on the wall of a very nice CT Estate. It is a very large example of this very old traditional style rug. The tag reads Challoo Quality which is what I believe is of a High Grade. It is made with hand pounded Goat Hair and Hand-Spun Wool and Cotten Felt. The Crewel Embroidery work is wool yarn. The crewel work is an all over pattern of Animals, Plants and Flowers. It is in very fine condition with some flaws. There are some broken threads, on one end in the border lines, but the embroidery is in overall remarkable shape. There are some black spots throughout the rug which is the nature of the undyed unspun Cotton and Wool Felt. The fringe is of a feathered nature and shows varying condition but I'm not sure if that is due to wear or design. The back of the rug is in similarly good condition. These rugs are very lightweight and are exceptional as a dramatic wall hanging centerpiece. Please see all photos and ask any questions you may have before purchasing. Sold As Is.The approximate size is 69" X 46" the tag says 175cm X 115cm which is about the same. This is a rare opportunity to purchase a nice antique Indian Textile for a unique decorating solution. The 2nd half of the photos are the backside for reference.
