He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, and then returned to Philadelphia to study art at the Philadelphia Museum School of Art and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.Watson was a prolific artist, and his work was exhibited in numerous galleries and museums throughout the United States, including the Woodmere Art Museum, the James A. Michener Art Museum, and the African American Museum in Philadelphia. He was also a member of several prestigious art organizations, including the American Watercolor Society, the Philadelphia Watercolor Society, and the Allied Artists of America.Watson's work is characterized by its loose, expressive brushwork and its vibrant colors.
