Description: I can't offer the history on this excellent print. I wish I could. Of course, the original work determined to be created between 1855 and 1865 was a singular drawing on paper by Daumier entitled Apres L'Audience (after the trial) which was 28cm x 36cm.It was originally sold through Durand-Ruel gallery and by 1900 held through the Esnault-Pelterie gallery, then eventually sold into a private collection through Sotheby's in 1991. There have been numerous created reproductions of the piece, but I can find none which capture the exacting details down to the whispy fine line signature of h. Daumier found in the lower left corner. Without the chance to own the original, this is the best opportunity to own this art work from the tremendous illustrator and artist Honore Daumier. The work is very well framed and double matted, but since this is a "Best Offer" listing you are welcome to make offer for the engraving only as my included shipping and packaging cost would be substantially less The plate marks on the print are 26.5 cm x 21.5 cm and approx. 2 cm of margin outside of the plate marks. Excellent condition.
