Ships in a large heavy-duty tube. This limited edition print by Don Stivers features the historic Buffalo Soldier LT Charles Young in the Sequoia National Park. Produced in 2007 through offset lithography, the large print (paper size) measures 27 inches in height and 22 5/8 inches in width. It is numbered, signed by the artist and comes with a certificate of authenticity issued by Stivers Publishing. Exerpts from the certicifate: THe establishment of Sequoia, Yosemite, and General Grant forests as National Parks in 1890 by President Harrison was a major step for conservationists at the time. Accesibility to the parks, however, languished under the next two admisitrations until President Theodore Roosevelt picked up the mantle again. It wasn't until the summer of 1903 when the Dpeartment of Interior appointed Captian Charles Denton Young as Acting Superinrndent of Sequoia Nathiopanl Park along with four 9th Cavalry tropops that the beauty and granduer of the Giant Forest was finally made appreciable to the public. Togerther they accomplished more in one summer than had been in the previous thirteen years... Young was an outstanding teacher, soldier, and diplomat. Not unlike the giant sequoia that was named after him in August of 2002, the guiet perseverance and exemplary dedication of his career have stood the test of time. ************************************************************************************* Seller sold the retail business in 2021, after 45 years, and the buyer was not interested in wildlife, western, and military prints.
