Description: With black debossed border, corner lines and four bands and gold gilt text to the spine, the brown hardbound cloth boards are in very good condition. There is creasing to the top and bottom of the back strip with light wear and only light wear along the bottom boards. The corners are all sharp with only the slightest touch of wear. Slight cosmetic blemishes to the front and rear boards. Spine is straight with no cracking at the endpapers. The overall text block is solid with all pages firmly attached. Age tanning throughout. Previous owner name written on the front endpaper. All interior pages are clean with no tears, cracks, or other previous owner marks. Fully illustrated with numerous engravings, from designs by W. Croome and other artists. It is also stated “with Additions and Corrections” which might indicate a previous edition (although no prior edition found) or publication in periodicals, etc. 656 pages.
