Description: With the absence of Julians' signature, the signature "Marie" instead of Maria, this pot was most likely made somewhere around 1923-30. Julian did paint the graphics on this but did not start adding his name until 1930 until his death in 1943. Her signature, as seen in the photo, suggests that this is from the first "era" of black pottery made by the Martinez couple. (Dr. Edgar Lee Hewett suggested that she sign it with a more acceptable "Marie")
