Description: Hickok 539B tube tester. Serial number 18213104. Reconditioned, 1. Case: New Tolex (carbon fiber look) covering on case. All new hardware on case. 8-32 stainless machine screws and captive nuts installed in wood case to hold aluminum panel vice wood screws. 2. Electrical and chassis: : Internally the following work has been done: Type 83 socket and 5Y3 sockets replaced with military ceramic (for 83 tube) and Micanol (for 5Y3 tube) heat resistant sockets. Tube mounting bracket replaced with new anodized aluminum and original tube retainers replaced with Bircher stainless steel retainers. Octal, 9 and 7 pin U.S. made socket savers installed. Installed type 49 lamp and socket to protect bias potentiometer from damage from a shorted tube under test. Tubular capacitors and out of tolerance resistors replaced. Test jacks installed below line voltage meter to qualify meter readings with an external voltmeter. New line cord and DPDT power toggle switch. New pilot lamp lenses. Installed new heater current, self bias and plate current binding posts. Ferrite beads have been installed at the factory at time of manufacture on the tube sockets. Roll chart is in excellent shape and moves freely with thumb wheel. Panel screws replaced with stainless steel except for around tube sockets to enhance appearance. 3. Accessories include: New plate/grid top cap lead, new 6p3S/6L6 check tube, NE51 neon shorts lamp, type 81 fuse lamp, type 49 bias fuse lamp, type 47 pilot lamp indicator. Complete set of manuals
