Description: A delightful children’s story, Herbert the Lion, by Clare Newberry, 1931. This was her first book, and this is the first edition. She wrote 17 children’s books, and four of them won the Caldecott award. Hardcover, size 11” x 9.5”. Condition: the book has a lot of wear, as can be seen in the photos. There is soiling on the covers, wear on the spine. Some separation in the front endpapers, and some fading of the color. Soiling, some crayon marks on some pages. Tear at the bottom of one page—see photo. This is a quite hard to find book, but because of the condition, I am lowering the price at which it would normally sell.
