Description: Offered for sale is a Hen Mallard Duck Decoy by Ron Snow of Royal Oak, Michigan. Ron is the son of well-known carver Walt Snow, who was a very good friend of Ben Schmidt. When Ron was young, he visited Ben Schmidt's shop and observed decoy carving firsthand. This decoy is very heavy for its size and has excessive deep feather stamping. The Hen measures 15 inches long with a moderately turned head. The underside still retains its wood keel and stylized hot brand. The decoy is all original and appears to have never been used on the water. There is a very tight thin crack on the left side of the hen's cheek (photos 12 & 13). It is rather hard to see when displayed. Otherwise, the decoy has extremely light wear. The profuse feather stamping, contrasting paint pattern, and wing primary carving really make this decoy stand out. This is one of the nicer Ron Snow decoys I have seen. The decoy will be securely bubble wrapped and mailed in a larger box with plenty of extra cardboard and paper packing material. The Hen Mallard is the only item for sale in the listing. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know. Thanks so much!
