Description: Helsingborg. Konung Oscar II:s terrass., Sweden -- Postcard, Unposted, German Print You are looking at front and back scans of the actual postcard. This is a beautiful, historic photograph of Terrasstrapporna, a monumental staircase with terraces in the old Swedish town of Helsingborg. The complex is officially called the Konung Oscar II:s Terrasstrappor (King Oscar II's Terrace Stairs) and was built between 1899 and 1903. It acts as an architectural link between the large market square Stortorget and the park Slottshagen, which is 40 meters higher. Oscar II (Oscar Fredrik, 1829 to 1907) was King of Sweden from 1872 until his death in 1907 and King of Norway from 1872 to 1905. This postcard was published by Axel Eliassons Konstförlag, a German publisher well known for its high-quality graphics. This is their print No. 3508. It was distributed in the United States by The Swedish Importing Company, Worcester, Massachusetts. This would be a nice addition to any collection; a wonderful souvenir for those who have visited Motala, Sweden; or simply for those who love Sweden and its history. This postcard measures 5.5 x 3.5 inches.
