Description: "Happy Days!" by Capt. Alban B. Butler, 1928. 1 of only 2000 printed. Signed on the front by the author, this is a rare vintage book. Passed down through my Mother's family, her father was a Captain in the army during WWI, and knew the author. Well read, large hardcover measures 12x9". It is primarily made up of funny drawings, with captions, all done by Butler. A foreword is written by Major General Summeral. The introduction explains the history of how Butlerbecame incredibly popular. The hardcover is still bound, although the spine is tearing away. The cover is dirty, has marks and a stain on the back upper left corner. The cover is ripping away from the spine, and the edges have wear. The inside covers have dirt and are almost detached from the binding. The 1st cover page has a name written in ink in the upper right corner. The caricatures on these pages are still sharp though. The interior pages have smudges, dirt, minor rips, and dog ears. Yet, the illustrations and text are not affected by this damage. The thick paper and wide borders have helped preserve the print and drawings. Although the book is held together by threads, it is a humorous, vintage piece that is rare, and would amuse most anyone, especially a veteran.
