The centerpiece was handmade in France; the 1-1/2" silver-toned crucifix was made in Italy; and the rosary itself was designed and handmade by me in the USA. All the beads are 8 mm, faceted and fire polished genuine Czech glass. The 13 Hail Mary beads are alternating aurora borealis crystal and light turquoise blue. They had one child before her husband was poisoned by a political rival, who then tried to force her to marry his son. She fled, was caught and imprisoned. She escaped and wrote to King Otto of Germany for help; he rescued her and they married and had four children. After the King's death their son Otto became King, but his wife turned the son against his mother and Adelaide was driven from court. She prayed for her son and years later they were reconciled, just before the he died. Adelaide and Otto's wife ruled together as regents for the new king (her granchild) but strife again came between them and Adelaide was forced to leave. When Otto's wife died, Adelaide returned to court to help her grandchild rule until he came of age. After this, she was free to follow her own pursuits, which included establishing and restoring religious houses. Although she was never a nun, she spent her last year in a nunnery in Alsace, praying and continuing her work for the conversion of the Slavik nations to Christianity. Considering her full life, it is no wonder she is the patron saint of exiles, prisoners, in-law problems, widows, second marriages, brides, parenthood, step-parents, large families, and abuse victims.The prayer cards which come with our rosaries, medals and pictures are home-made, created using a "greeting card" program on a computer and printed in full color on nice quality paper.
