I wouldn't say it's for severe weather by itself, but it can be a useful and fun layer. It's very comfortable and roomy. One size fits most. Count on it to be fairly stretchy and unconfining on a teen or adult head, but very secure, with no required clipping, pinning or effort to keep it in place. To care for the hat: ideally, hand wash -- or machine wash gentle in a delicates bag -- then lay flat to dry. I find there's some wiggle room on care. For instance, I've hung this kind of hat to dry, without hurting anything. I've also washed one without a delicates bag and found no damage. In case you're interested, I don't use AI description. Also, these hats are created using a hook, not one of the modern automatic looms. Resisting the machine, ya know? No shade to creators who use those tools.
