Description: An ulu is an all purpose knife of Aleutian origin. The word means, "woman's knife" in Inuit. They are used for everything from skinning animals, giving haircuts, chopping vegetables or trimming ice blocks for igloos. These are a bit whimsical in that I am using material to make an Alaskan knife that does not naturally occur in Alaska, but I think you will agree that they are very attractive, and a great addition to your collection. The handle is made of osage wood, the wood typically used to make bows. The blade is 4 inches long, made of double flow obsidian from northern California. u-1
