Description: Hamilton Tile Works, Hamilton, OH 1883-1901 Hamilton Tile Works was started by Adolf Metzner, who started making tiles in his backyard. In 1901 he went to work for American Encaustic Tiling Co, then on to C. Pardee Works in NJ. Selling antique tile with raised image. Glazing is deep brown and tan with glossy finish and crazing. For its age, it is in pretty good condition. Has small edge chips. Measures 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" x 1/2" thick. We know this is Hamilton as we sold 1 that showed their mark on the back.
