Description: HAITI P STAMPS. 1984 Centenary of Haitian Stamps Airpost set (#785-8), four MASTER PROOFS on 75x110mm sheets, all affixed to PRINTER'S PRESENTATION FOLDER, all with three or more color bars and all with important differences from issued stamps: Duvalier designs with extraneous leafy branch to right of portrait, with printer's ms. notation to eliminate, and "OK TO PRINT" beneath, Salomon designs marked "Not Approved," "new picture," and "New Picture for Salomon to come" (this dated July 1982), with the leafy branches marked "to be silver" or "to be gold" (note this change was not made in issued stamps, and branch to right of portrait was eliminated), some staining (mostly fingerprints in colors of ink used), the problems with Salomon's portrait probably explain why these stamps did not appear until three years after the centenary, unique and most interesting exhibition item, F-VF.
