Hobby Master 1:48 Air Power Series HA7404 Focke-Wulf Fw 190A Diecast Model Luftwaffe 11./JG 3, Willi Maximowitz, Dreux, France, 1944 Limited Edition 1000 1:48 Scale Length 7.25"Width 8.5" General information about the pilot and his aircraft: On May 8, 1944 Unteroffizier (NCO) Willi Maximowitz became part of IV./JG 3 as 11.Staffel in Dreux France and provided ground support in Normandy. By July they were re-assigned to attacking Allied bombers. On July 30, 1944 Maximowitz was promoted to Feldwebel and soon after was injured crash-landing "Black 8". Next he was assigned as Captain Moritz's Katschmarek (wing-man). In February 1945 IV./JG 3 transferred to the Eastern Front and Maximowitz scored 12 more victories for a total of 27. On April 20, 1945 he failed to return from a combat mission. Focke-Wulf Fw 190A Designed by Kurt Tank, the Fw-190A was first flown on June 1st, 1939. This small, yet ferociously-powered aircraft was fast and maneuverable and packed a fierce armament package earning it the nickname "Butcher Bird". The wide landing gear, excellent visibility and high-altitude paddle-bladed propeller endeared it to pilots familiar with the shortcomings of its predecessor - the Messerschmitt Bf 109. Some of the Luftwaffe's most famous fighter aces flew the Fw 190. Many variants were produced during the war, with the most notable being the inline-engine equipped and longer-nosed 190D, known as the "Dora." Hobby Master's 1:48 scale Fw 190 is a quality model, assembled with exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. Among this model's features are a solid metal wing with simulated fabric-stretched control surfaces, a 12-bladed cooling fan that spins in unison with the propeller, cylinder head cooling fins that are visible inside the cowling, individual exhaust stacks, removable center mounted fuel tank and a sliding canopy that reveals pad printed dials and gauges inside the cockpit. Variants in this series include the early 190A, the upgraded 190A with armor plating, and the 190F attack variant with larger canopy and removable center-mounted bombs. Hobby Master "1:48 Air Power Series" diecast airplanes feature: Diecast metal construction with some plastic components. Realistic panel lines, antennas, access panels and surface details. Pad printed markings and placards that won't fade or peel like decals. Opening canopies, revealing detailed cockpit interiors. Interchangeable extended/retracted landing gear. Presentation stand to display the aircraft "in flight". Authentic detachable ordnance loads complete with placards. Accurately detailed underside with concealed screwheads.
