This auction is for the following hand autographed General Gunther Rall (Deceased) WWII Luftwaffe Ace Pilot 275 Kills SIGNED WWII German Luftwaffe Pilot Aviator Leather Flight Helmet that has been JSA COA authenticated. The General Gunther Rall autographed Luftwaffe Pilot Leather Flight Helmet has been authenticated by the most prestigious and respected authentication company in the hobby JSA #MM68317. BIO: General Gunther Rall (Deceased) WWII 1936-1945 Luftwaffe Ace Pilot 275 victories during 621 combat missions. The third highest scoring ace pilot in victories during WWII. He was shot down eight times. Served in JG 52, JG 11 and JG 300, Recipient of 3 German Knights Cross. Took part in the Battle of France, Battle of Britain, Balkans Campaign, Eastern Front and Defense of the Reich. Later published the book “Mein Flugbuch” (My Flightbook) about his experiences during WWII. Mr. Rall flew 621 missions, scoring 275 victories and was shot down himself 8 times. He received the Knights Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords on 12 Sept, 1943 and is the third top scoring Ace of WWII. Mr. Rall qualified as a fighter pilot in 1938, and was posted to JG 52. Rall's first victory was on 18 May, during the battle of France. He was appointed commander of 8/JG 52 on 25 July, 1940, and sent to Rumania in 1941. After a short post to Crete, Rall and JG 52 were sent to the Eastern front, where after his 36th victory he was shot down and broke his back in three places. Back in action in August 1942, Rall's victory score took off, and by 29 Aug, 1943, he had scored his 200th victory in 555 missions, and downed over 40 aircraft during Oct of 1943. During April of 1944 Rall was posted to II./JG11 in defense of the Reich, on 12 May he was flying Bf 109 W. Nr. 110089 and downed two P-47's of Zemke's wolfpack before being shot down himself..... and loosing his left thumb in the combat.
