Always stored in cases in an air conditioned, smoke free environment. All functions have been thoroughly tested, everything works flawlessly. This kit sounds absolutely incredible! Was purchased brand new from Drum Center of Portsmouth. These are not vintage round badge drums. These are modern reissues of the round badge USA customs. Finish is Satin walnut. The drums have a noticeable deep RED color to them. I figure I should mention this because the official finish name is grossly misleading. Walnut wood is naturally dark brown colored. These drums are noticeably RED. Albeit a dark and subdued RED. Satin IMO is the most classy and timeless of all the finishes. Listing Includes Gretsch USA custom 3 piece shell kit: 20x14 virgin bass drum 12x8 rack (includes rims mount) 14x14 floor Tom (includes legs and leg memory locks) Please carefully examine all photos. I have done my best to catalog and exaggerate all cosmetic blemishes. The worst offender being on the bottom side of the bass drum hoop. The pedal clamp has left a small indention. Also, the 12 inch rack has very small scratches (facing inwards to the snare) When I say I have exaggerated the blemishes. I really mean it. I set up a light next to the drums to really highlight the flaws. They are not even noticeable at a sitting distance. But I want to be clear and honest about what you are getting. I value my feedback rating, so please reach out with any questions BEFORE purchasing. The hardware is extra heavy duty, and the shells sing. I have tuned it up high and it does Elvin and Tony all day. Or you can tune it low and get the 70s Vinnie “tubby thump” sound. USA customs have a VERY unique sound that you either absolutely love or hate. I really recommend playing on one in person before purchasing. Unless you are tuning it up high for jazz, these kits genuinely sound like the “studio recorded sound”. There is a very distinctive mid-range heavy, VERY focused/dry sound that can’t be avoided or tuned away. Double ply heads sound terrible IMO on these. Definitely stick with single ply heads. At a medium or low pitch, they literally sound like every record you’ve ever heard them on. It is such a distinct recognizable sound. The Tom’s have stock permatone heads on batter and resonant. The bass drum has a Coated Evans emad on the batter Remo fiberskyn diplomat on Reso Toms heads only have about 3 hours of light jazz playing on them. (Barely broken in) The emad batter has about 8 hours of playing, and the bass resonant is brand new. I have tried at least five different types of drumheads and I believe this to be the best overall sound. Believe it or not, the stock “gretsch remo” heads sound better than ambassadors or g1’s I have no clue what they do to make these stock heads so much better than ambassadors (for USA customs specifically), but they sing and open up in a totally different way. Ambassadors sound completely dead and lifeless compared to these. They really nailed it with these heads! The bass drum is a different story though, I much prefer the combination I have on here for a balance of thump and resonance. You can really do anything with this combination. Drums will be taken apart and stacked inside of each other for Shipping. They will be shipped fully insured. All items sold as is, no returns. Please ask any questions before purchasing.
