Description: Greetings from Bingen, GERMANY - The Rhine From Cologne to Rüdesheim - MULTIVIEW: Bingen am Rhein is a town in the Mainz-Bingen district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The settlement's original name was Bingium, a Celtic word that may have meant "hole in the rock", a description of the shoal behind the Mäuseturm, known as the Binger Loch. Bingen was the starting point for the Via Ausonia, a Roman military road that linked the town with Trier. The Rhine is one of the major European rivers, and has its sources in Switzerland and flows in a mostly northerly direction through Germany and the Netherlands, emptying into the North Sea. This card features many of the German sites along the Rhein: Cologne, Kongsvinger, Bonn, Koblenz, Ehrenbreitstein, Die Pfalz, Archangels, Stilbene, Marksburg, Rheinstein, Loreley, St. Goar Rheinfels, Rudesheim, Bingen. This Photochromatic Multiview, mailed in 1929, is in good condition. Hourcsch & Bachsstedt. Kõln.
