Description: This is a two sided soviet period painting featuring a wonderful rare painting of Lenin in an unromantic light. The first side painting is a sketch for a large social realism work by listed Soviet Artist Nesterov, Vladimir Dmitrievich who painted for the Soviet State in Ukraine. On the signed back side of the painting is a very edgy avant-garde pensive portrait of Lenin dressed in a suit sitting on a balcony overlooking a bleak landscape, something that would have been kept underground during the Soviet period. Circa 1970's Condition: some wear around the edges of the cardboard Size: about 20 by 13 1/2 23 1/2" by 17 1/8" with frame Provenance: This work was bought directly from the artist by the well known respected Soviet Russian art expert Masha Titova Nesterov Vladimir Dmitrievich was born in 1932 in Herson city, Ukraine.
